New Year, New Semester.

Happy New Year Friends!

And so another year has begun – I know, I’m a little late on wishing everyone a happy new year. Better late than never! After getting 22 inches of snow the semester is at a late start! Three days late.

After a Winter break of literally doing nothing, I have been incredibly eager to begin the new semester. As fun as it was to lay in bed and play video games and watch Netflix ( I suggest the Tudors) for a month straight, I’m ready for some productivity in my life.

I feel like the world knew it was a new semester, I’ve been getting some wedding inquiries which I’m absolutely so excited for. I can’t wait to see all these gorgeous weddings put together and spend the day with a beautiful couple! You guys know I adore weddings with my whole being. Is that too cheesy? Maybe, but it’s true.

This semester is my final spring semester, it’s kind of bitter sweet in a way. I can’t wait to have that BFA in my hands but, I’m also going to seriously miss college. It’s been my life for the past four years!

It’s honestly a bit nerve wracking to think about- graduation, applying for a design job, running my own photography business. Unfortunately, where I live there’s little to no graphic design jobs. In the small town I live in there’s really not a huge need for graphic designers.  My husband and I have however found a place of interest: Fayetville, North Carolina. My aunt lives there and it would be nice to move to an area where I have family.

My uncle was in the Air Force back in the day, so it was natural for him to be in a military town. I’ve been there a couple times when I was a kid and from what I remember it was a nice place. Beautiful homes, green grass, warm weather – I remember it being a lovely town. I plan to join AIGA before my move, and I’m hoping to land a design job in Fayeteville or even Raleigh before we make our way down there. It’s exciting and SO SO scary at the same time. Do I know enough to be a good graphic designer? Will I get hired? Will my photography thrive when I move? Will southern life be as grand as I’ve dreamed of?

Who knows what the future holds for the Mongold family. Hopefully it’s nothing but positive things but, I’m still a little bit scared all the same. I will certainly miss my tiny town and its gorgeous mountains but, I have to move on to bigger things someday.

So, here’s to another year of business, another semester, and to the future!

Stay Inspired & Keep on Dreaming.
